Abstract

Objective: ATG plus CSA is a standard treatment for patients with aplastic anemia not suitable for allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. With an aim generate more data on the efficacy of this regimen we have conducted a descriptive study. Participants and Methods: A longitudial observation study on patients with aplastic anemia treated with ATG and CSA at Bachmai Hospital from 1/2020 to 6/2024. Results: Analysed 22 patients with aplastic anemia treated with ATG and CSA, in which 12 ones used horse ATG (thymogam), 10 ones used rabit ATG (Grafalon). Overall response rates were 52 %, 79%, and 81% at 3-, 6- and 12-months post-treatment initiation, respectively. Complete response was achieved in 9%, 21%, and 25% at 3-, 6- and 12-months, respectively. No ones relapsed after treatment. In horse ATG, overall response is 100 % at 12 month. Most common side effects were mild kidney failure and swollen gums. Conclusion: The finding of this study reveals that the regimen of ATG and CSA is effective and safe in treating patients with aplastic anemia especially horse ATG and CSA at Bachmai Hospital.
