I. Publication Process at the Journal of Clinical Medicine (JoCM)

The publication process includes the following steps:

1. Submission

Manuscripts can be submitted via:

  • The online publishing management system: https://yhoclamsang.vn/index.php/jocm/about/submissions
  • Directly to the journal’s email: jocm@bachmai.edu.vn

2. Initial Screening

The editorial secretary screens submissions to ensure compliance with the journal’s scope, topic, format/structure, and research ethics (within 1 week).
Notification of manuscript status:

  • Not accepted
  • Requires revision before peer review
  • Sent for peer review

3. Peer Review

  • The Editor-in-Chief or an assigned Deputy Editor selects appropriate reviewers for each manuscript.
  • The secretary sends invitations to reviewers and provides the manuscript and review form to those who agree.
  • Each manuscript is reviewed by two independent reviewers (with author information removed). Manuscript content is confidential; reviewers must not share any information without prior permission from the Editor-in-Chief.
  • Reviewers submit their comments within 2 weeks of receiving the manuscript.

Recommended international guidelines for reviewers:

  • Evaluation criteria (not limited to):

    • Is the research topic important, novel, and relevant?
    • Are objectives clearly defined?
    • Are methods scientifically sound and appropriate?
    • Are results clearly presented?
    • Are interpretations and discussions reasonable based on existing knowledge?
    • Are limitations and assumptions clearly stated?
    • Are conclusions and recommendations justified by the results?
    • Practical applicability of findings
    • Other specific comments

    Final recommendation (choose one):

    1. Accept without revision
    2. Accept with revision, no re-review required
    3. Accept with revision, re-review required
    4. Reject
  •

4. Handling Review Outcomes

  • Two reviewers agree: Authors revise based on comments and resubmit within 2 weeks.
  • One agrees, one disagrees: Manuscript sent to a third reviewer.
  • Two disagree: Manuscript rejected.

5. Plagiarism Check

Accepted manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening using  iThenticate . Manuscripts with similarity >20% or any identical passage of 100+ words are rejected. Authors of such manuscripts will be banned from future submissions.

6. Technical Editing

After revisions, manuscripts are technically edited and scheduled for publication based on submission date, topic, and article type. Layout and design are reviewed and approved by the Editor-in-Chief or Deputy Editor.

7. Printing and Distribution

Final approved versions are sent to the printer.

  • Each issue: 100 copies, 75–120 pages
  • Publication frequency: 1 issue every 1.5 months (8 issues/year: 6 in Vietnamese, 2 in English)

Note: Authors may contact the journal for manuscript status confirmation.

II. Peer Review Process

  • Double-blind review: Two independent reviewers per manuscript.
  • Confidentiality is strictly maintained.
  • Reviewers assess manuscripts using the standard review form, focusing on:
    • Importance and originality of research question
    • Strengths and weaknesses of design, data collection, and analysis
    • Writing quality and data presentation
    • Impact and validity of findings

International guidelines apply as listed above.
